Calboy

Calboy is a rapper from Calumet City, near Chicago, Illinois, who began rapping as a kid and built a local following through street releases before breaking through nationally. His early mixtape Calboy the Wildboy established his melodic, hard-edged style, but it was the 2018 single «Envy Me» that turned him into one of the most talked-about new voices in Chicago rap, eventually going platinum and pushing him into the mainstream conversation around the city's drill and street-rap scene.

Off the strength of that breakout, Calboy signed to RCA Records and released his debut studio album, Wildboy, in 2019. The record leaned on his ability to blend introspective, autobiographical songwriting about growing up in Calumet City with anthemic, radio-ready hooks. Its standout track «Chariot» brought together a heavyweight lineup of Meek Mill, Young Thug, and Lil Durk, underlining his ties to both the Chicago scene and the wider rap mainstream.

He followed the album with the EP Long Live the Kings and a deluxe edition in 2020, continuing to develop the emotionally direct, melodic approach that distinguishes him from more strictly drill-oriented peers. Calboy's music sits at the intersection of street narrative and pop-leaning melody, and songs like «Envy Me» and «Chariot» remain the touchstones of his catalog.
