Брутто (Brutto)

Brutto is the solo project of Timur Odilbekov, a Russian rapper better known as a member of the hip-hop duo Kaspiysky Gruz (Каспийский Груз). Under the Brutto moniker, Odilbekov pursues a darker, more introspective and provocative sound than his work with the duo, exploring themes of violence, crime, toxic relationships, and urban despair with blunt, often shocking lyrical imagery delivered over minimalist, bass-heavy trap and cloud rap production.

His solo catalogue, including the album «The Брутто» (2016), the EP «Единственное число Женский род Прошедшее время» (2020), and later full-lengths like «ГАДДЕМ» and «ГАДДЕМ 2», showcases a raw, confrontational persona distinct from his more commercially accessible work in Kaspiysky Gruz. Tracks such as «Бандит» and «Лучше бы ты просто умерла» lean into a nihilistic, street-hardened aesthetic that has made Brutto a cult figure within the Russian underground rap scene.

Brutto's music is often noted for its stark contrast between hypnotic, sparse beats and aggressively delivered vocals, aligning him with the broader Russian trap and «gopnik rap» movements of the late 2010s. While never reaching the mainstream chart success of Kaspiysky Gruz's biggest hits, the Brutto project has built a dedicated following among listeners drawn to its unfiltered, darker tone.
