Bru-C

Bru-C, the stage name of Josh Bruce, is a British MC and rapper originally from Long Eaton, Derbyshire, now based in Nottingham. He cut his teeth on the UK battle-rap scene, appearing on Don't Flop Entertainment's YouTube channel during the early stages of his career, before pivoting toward a broader, genre-blending sound built around drum and bass, bassline, garage, and grime. That crossover approach, including collaborations with producers like Bad Boy Chiller Crew, has made him one of relatively few artists from the battle-rap world to move into festival-scale live shows and arena tours.

His debut album, «Original Sounds», released in 2019 through the CruCast label, established his rapid, melodic flow over bass-heavy production. The follow-up, «Smile» (2020), was shaped by his own experience with mental health struggles and aimed for a life-affirming, uplifting tone across fifteen tracks spanning drum and bass, grime, and bassline styles. Tracks like «Inhaler» and «Streetside» showcase his knack for pairing high-energy club production with direct, personal lyricism.

In December 2021, Bru-C signed to major label Def Jam Recordings, a milestone he marked with a return performance in his hometown of Long Eaton. His trajectory from underground battle rap to major-label bass music has made him a distinctive figure bridging the UK's grassroots MC culture and its electronic dance scenes.
