Brotha Lynch Hung

Brotha Lynch Hung, born Kevin Danell Mann in Sacramento, California, is widely regarded as one of the founding figures of horrorcore rap. Emerging from the city's Meadowview neighborhood and its gang culture in the early 1990s, he built a reputation on graphic, cannibalistic imagery combined with hardcore gangsta-rap storytelling, a style often called «ripgut» rap.

His 1995 album «Season of da Siccness» is considered a landmark of the horrorcore subgenre, pairing dark, cinematic production with disturbing narrative lyrics that pushed the boundaries of gangsta rap's violence into surreal, horror-movie territory. He continued releasing music independently through his own Siccmade Muzicc label after parting ways with Black Market Records, maintaining a devoted underground following.

Lynch later became a key figure on Tech N9ne's Strange Music label, broadening his audience while staying true to his signature dark aesthetic. Decades into his career he returned to his most influential work with a sequel, extending a legacy as one of West Coast rap's most distinctive and influential underground voices.
