Boy Better Know

Boy Better Know, often shortened to BBK, is a British grime collective and independent record label founded in North London in 2005 by brothers Skepta and Jme along with a close circle of associates, built to release and distribute their own music outside the traditional major-label system. The crew grew out of London's pirate radio and grime scene and became one of the genre's defining collectives, helping push grime from an underground pirate-radio phenomenon toward mainstream recognition over the following decade.

BBK's output spans hard-hitting freestyles, cyphers and singles that showcase the raw, competitive lyricism central to grime, with tracks like «Too Many Man», «I Don't Like» and «Green House» becoming genre touchstones. Their freestyle and cypher culture, including releases like «Boy Better Know Cypher» and «Boy Better Know Freestyle GRM Gold», became a proving ground for MCs and helped keep grime's battle-rap energy alive even as the sound modernized.

Over time BBK expanded from a loose crew into a recognized brand encompassing music, clothing and events, with members and affiliates including Jammer, Solo 45, DJ Maximum, Frisco, Preditah and Shorty, and past ties to Wiley, one of grime's founding figures. The collective's DIY, independently run model became an influential template for how UK rap and grime artists could build careers on their own terms.
