Borgore

Borgore is the stage name of Asaf Borger, an Israeli DJ and producer widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the aggressive dubstep offshoot he himself dubbed «gorestep». Before turning to electronic music he played drums in the Israeli death metal band Shabira, and that background shows up clearly in his production — grinding basslines, triplet drum patterns and blast-beat-inspired rhythms borrowed straight from metal. In the early 2010s he became one of the most talked-about (and most divisive) figures in the North American dubstep scene thanks to his deliberately shock-oriented, sexually explicit imagery and lyrics.

Borgore founded the label Buygore Records, which became an outlet for his own material as well as a launchpad for other bass-music producers. He has also recorded as part of the duo Alphamale Primates alongside Tomba. Across his career he has leaned heavily on vocal features and pop hooks layered over heavy electronic production, moving between straightforward EDM, trap and hip-hop-adjacent collaborations.

Tracks like «Decisions», «Wild Out» and «Nympho» show his signature mix of party-ready hooks and abrasive sound design, while songs such as «Someone Else’s» and «Gloryhole» lean into the provocative branding that has followed him throughout his career. Love him or hate him, Borgore remains a distinctive and influential voice in the harder end of electronic dance music.
