Bohemia

Bohemia is a rapper and music producer widely credited as a pioneer of Punjabi rap, blending hip-hop production with Punjabi lyricism to create what became known as Desi hip-hop. Raised in California among the Punjabi diaspora, he began releasing hardcore rap in Punjabi at a time when the style barely existed, standing out as an unusual figure delivering hip-hop over South Asian language and themes.

His independent debut album Vich Pardesan De reached the Top 10 on BBC Radio UK, an unusual feat for an underground Punjabi release, while his follow-up Pesa Nasha Pyar became one of the first full-length Punjabi rap albums released through a major label, expanding his reach into mainstream South Asian pop and Bollywood circles. That album's crossover success led to a multi-record deal with Universal Music and helped cement Punjabi rap as a recognized genre rather than a novelty.

Beyond his own catalog, which includes tracks like «Same Beef», «Diwana» and «Jaguar», Bohemia's influence stretches across Bollywood and Punjabi pop, where his style of blending street-level rap cadences with Punjabi poetry opened the door for a generation of Desi-hip-hop artists that followed him.
