Bobby Shmurda, born Ackquille Jean Pollard on August 4, 1994, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American rapper who became a viral sensation in 2014 with his single "Hot Nigga." The track, built on a menacing beat and Shmurda's frantic, ad-lib-heavy delivery, spawned the "Shmoney Dance" and turned his catchphrase "about a week ago" into a cultural moment thanks to Vine and social media. He is widely credited as an early catalyst for the Brooklyn drill sound, which fed into the broader New York drill movement.

The success of "Hot Nigga" landed him a deal with Epic Records, and his EP Shmurda She Wrote, released in late 2014, remains his most acclaimed project, capturing the raw, street-level energy that made him a breakout star.
