Black Nut (블랙넛)

Black Nut, born Kim Dae-woong, is a South Korean rapper from Jeonju who built his early reputation on Just Music Entertainment, the label founded by veteran rapper Swings. He reportedly stepped in as an interim head of the label while Swings served his military enlistment. Black Nut became a household name in Korean hip-hop after his run on the 2015 survival show Show Me the Money 4, where his provocative lyrics and stage persona generated significant controversy and media attention.

His style leans into deliberately crude, sexually explicit and confrontational wordplay, often used as a tool to provoke and satirize both listeners and rivals within the Korean rap scene. Tracks like «섹스하고 싶어요 I Love Sex» and «100» showcase this abrasive, unfiltered approach, while diss-style cuts referencing figures such as Beenzino and E-Sens («빈지노», «Higher Than E-Sens») reflect his history of feuds and rap battles that have shaped his public image as much as his music.

Despite the controversy, Black Nut remains a notable figure in the underground and mainstream crossover of Korean hip-hop, valued for his technical rapping ability and willingness to break taboos that more polished mainstream artists avoid.
