Big Tymers

Big Tymers were an American hip-hop duo formed in New Orleans in the mid-1990s, consisting of Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman (then performing as Baby) and producer Mannie Fresh. The group became one of the flagship acts of the Cash Money label during its late-1990s and early-2000s rise, pairing Birdman’s ad-lib-heavy bravado with Mannie Fresh’s bounce-influenced, synth-driven production. Their lyrics celebrated wealth, jewelry, and street luxury, embodying the flashy Southern rap aesthetic that Cash Money helped popularize nationally.

The duo scored major commercial success with singles like «Still Fly» and «#1 Stunna», both of which became hip-hop radio staples and helped push Southern rap further into the mainstream alongside labelmates like Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and the Hot Boys. Albums such as «I Got That Work» and «Hood Rich» cemented their reputation as hitmakers with an ear for anthemic hooks and party-ready beats.

Big Tymers effectively disbanded in 2005 after Mannie Fresh left Cash Money Records amid a dispute over royalties and payment, ending one of the most influential producer-rapper partnerships in Southern hip-hop history. Their catalog remains a touchstone for the bling-era sound of early-2000s rap.
