Big Boi

Big Boi, born Antwan Patton, is a rapper and producer from Atlanta who rose to fame as one half of OutKast alongside André 3000. After meeting at Tri-Cities High School and signing to LaFace Records, the duo became one of the most acclaimed groups in hip-hop history, known for pushing the genre's boundaries with funk, soul and Southern influences well beyond the East Coast/West Coast frameworks that dominated rap at the time.

Within OutKast, Big Boi provided the grounded, rapid-fire technical rapping that balanced André's more experimental tendencies, and he played a major role in the group's biggest commercial success, the double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which produced his hit «The Way You Move». He has also appeared as a guest on tracks by artists like Jay-Z, Missy Elliott and Janelle Monáe.

Following OutKast's hiatus after Idlewild, Big Boi continued as a solo artist, releasing albums such as Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty to strong critical acclaim. His solo work retained the dense wordplay, funk-inflected production and Southern rap identity that defined his career, cementing his reputation as one of the genre's most respected and technically skilled MCs.
