BIA

BIA, born Bianca Landrau, is a rapper and singer from Boston of Puerto Rican and Italian descent. She began writing music as a teenager while hanging around local battle rappers in the studio, but kept her own writing private for years before pursuing it seriously after surviving a near-fatal motorcycle accident. She was discovered via YouTube by her manager and later connected with Pharrell Williams, who signed her to his i Am Other label, an early break that shaped her entry into the industry.

Her 2014 mixtape #CHOLASEASON introduced her sharp, confident flow and bilingual bars blending English and Spanish, drawing on influences ranging from Jay-Z to Puerto Rican icons like Ivy Queen and Selena. BIA also gained early visibility through the reality series Sisterhood of Hip Hop before building her own solo catalog across rap, pop and R&B textures.

She broke through more widely with the Pop Smoke collaboration «Whoppa» and especially «Whole Lotta Money», whose remix featuring Nicki Minaj became a major crossover hit. Later songs such as «LONDON», «BESITO» and «Esta Noche» lean further into her Latin roots and melodic sensibility, cementing BIA as an artist equally comfortable in hard-hitting rap and glossy, radio-ready pop-R&B.
