Benny the Butcher

Benny the Butcher, born Jeremie Damon Pennick, is a rapper from East Buffalo, New York, and one of the leading voices of Griselda Records, the label collective he joined in 2016 alongside cousins Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine. His style draws heavily on 1990s New York hip-hop, citing influences like Rakim, Nas, JAY-Z, Mobb Deep, and Wu-Tang Clan, and is defined by dense, vivid street narratives delivered over gritty, soul- and jazz-sampled production.

Before breaking through nationally, Benny spent years self-releasing mixtapes, including entries in his long-running «Tana Talk» series, building a loyal underground following in Buffalo and beyond. His momentum grew through acclaimed projects and singles such as «Johnny P's Caddy», «Crowns for Kings», and «’97 Hov», which showcase his sharp, detail-oriented storytelling about hustling, loss, and survival.
