Benjamin Tod

Benjamin Tod is an American singer-songwriter working in outlaw country and Americana, known for unflinchingly autobiographical songs about addiction, poverty, and life on the road. Raised in Sumner County, Tennessee, he started out busking on lower Broadway in Nashville as a teenager before drifting into the city's punk scene, playing bass in gutter-punk bands and eventually riding freight trains and living transient for years. That itinerant, hard-luck upbringing became the raw material for his songwriting.

His music channels the tradition of confessional country storytellers, pairing plainspoken, often brutal honesty with melodies rooted in classic country and folk. Songs like «Using Again» and «Sorry For The Things» deal directly with substance abuse and its toll on relationships, while tracks such as «Wyoming» and «Long Gone» lean into the romance and hardship of a rootless life.
