About the artist
Benash, born Simon on 16 February 1994 and of Cameroonian descent, is a French rapper from Boulogne-Billancourt who led the collective 40000 Gang, formerly known as S.D.H.S Family, until its dissolution in 2015. He was one of the artists on Booba's 92i Records label alongside names like Siboy, Shay and Damso, and notably the only member based in the Hauts-de-Seine department where the label itself was rooted.
His profile rose sharply through his contribution to «Validée» (2015) with Booba, one of the biggest French rap hits of that period, which opened the door to European showcases early in his career. After releasing the collective mixtape Anarchie in 2015 with 40000 Gang, he launched his solo career with the album CDG (Chef De Guerre) on 31 March 2017, a fifteen-track project whose Afro-Caribbean sonic textures reflect the imprint «Validée» left on his style.
Following a quieter period after CDG and the single «Cardi B», Benash returned in late 2019 with his second album NBH, an abbreviation of his own name. Tracks such as «Ghetto», «Ivre» and «Coco» show his continued attachment to rhythmic, dancehall-inflected rap production layered over street narratives, keeping him tied to the 92i sound even as his solo path diverged from the label's other artists.
