Beenzino (빈지노)

Beenzino, born Lim Sung Bin, is a South Korean rapper whose stage name playfully combines the Boston rapper Benzino's name with «been», the first syllable of his own birth name. Raised partly in New Zealand before moving to South Korea, he began writing rap as a schoolboy and drew early attention through recordings posted online, which led established rapper Simon Dominic to bring him into the Korean underground hip-hop scene.

He became a key member of Illionaire Records before later signing to the label BANA (Beasts And Natives Alike), and along the way built a reputation as one of Korean hip-hop's most stylistically distinct voices, known for a laid-back, melodic flow, witty and often visually driven wordplay, and a strong aesthetic sensibility that extends to his cover art and visual presentation. His music blends boom-bap and jazzy, soulful production with a self-assured, art-referencing lyrical persona.
