Bausa

Bausa, born Julian Otto in 1989 in Saarbrücken, Germany, is one of the more melodic and R&B-influenced voices to emerge from the modern German rap scene. He first encountered hip-hop and R&B after moving to Bietigheim, where the genre was omnipresent in his youth, and he was writing and recording his own material by his mid-teens. His path to a music career was not straightforward, marked by personal struggles and a stay in a youth care home before he eventually returned to music in his late teens.

His 2014 mixtape «Seelenmanöver» blended classic German rap with trap and soul influences, developing a smoother, more melodic style than much of the harder-edged deutschrap of the time. Through connections in the scene, including his relationship with Capo, he built momentum that culminated in his 2017 debut album «Dreifarbenhaus», which established him as a major name in German rap. That same year, his single «Was Du Liebe nennst» became a breakout hit, showcasing his signature fusion of rap cadences with pop and R&B hooks.

Bausa's music is defined by emotionally direct lyrics, catchy melodic choruses, and a sound that bridges rap with contemporary pop, making him one of the more radio-friendly and widely streamed artists in the German-language hip-hop landscape. Tracks like «Baron», «Mary» and «Madonna» further cemented his reputation for blending street authenticity with accessible songwriting.
