Bas

Bas, born Abbas Hamad, is an American rapper of Sudanese heritage, born in Paris and raised in Queens, New York. He rose to prominence as one of the first artists signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records, joining the label after his mixtape work built a following, and later releasing music through Interscope as well. His melodic, laid-back flow and introspective lyricism set him apart within the Dreamville roster, blending rap with soulful, R&B-inflected production.

His debut album, «Last Winter», arrived in 2014, following closely on the heels of his «Two Weeks Notice» mixtape. He built on that momentum with «Too High to Riot» in 2016, a project that showcased a more polished, cohesive sound. Bas has also been a key contributor to Dreamville's collaborative compilation efforts, including «Revenge of the Dreamers II», reflecting his close creative bond with J. Cole and the wider Dreamville family.

Known for tracks like «Lit», «Boca Raton», and «Clouds Never Get Old», Bas has carved out a niche as a thoughtful, globally-minded voice in hip-hop, often exploring themes of travel, identity, and personal growth. His work continues to bridge East Coast rap sensibilities with international influences drawn from his upbringing.
