About the artist
Ballout, born Will R. Carthan, is a rapper from Chicago, Illinois, and a longtime member of Glory Boyz Entertainment (GBE), the label and collective founded by fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef. He emerged alongside Keef and other GBE affiliates during the early-to-mid 2010s rise of Chicago's drill scene, contributing a hard-edged, street-focused style that fit squarely within drill's minor-key, menacing production and blunt, first-person lyricism about street life.
Throughout his career Ballout has released a series of mixtapes, most notably «Ballin' No NBA», which stands as one of his best-known projects and captures the raw, unpolished energy characteristic of the GBE camp's output. His music frequently touches on themes of loyalty, street wealth, and gang affiliation, delivered in the aggressive, ad-lib-heavy vocal style associated with the drill movement he helped popularize alongside his labelmates.
As part of GBE, Ballout has been closely tied to the broader network of Chicago drill artists that brought the subgenre to national attention, collaborating within that circle even as he maintained his own catalog of mixtapes and singles. He remains recognized as a foundational figure in the Glory Boyz roster and a representative voice of Chicago's drill sound from its formative period.
