Baha Men

Baha Men are a Bahamian junkanoo band formed in Nassau in 1977, originally performing as High Voltage before adopting their current name after signing to Atlantic Records' Big Beat imprint. Rooted in junkanoo, the Bahamas' brass-and-percussion carnival tradition, the group spent over a decade self-releasing albums and playing hotel and club circuits before gaining international attention.

Their 2000 album Who Let the Dogs Out, and its title track (a cover of a song originally written by Anslem Douglas), became a global phenomenon, turning into a stadium and sporting-event anthem worldwide and winning a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. The song's blend of soca, junkanoo rhythms and playful call-and-response hooks made it one of the most recognizable novelty hits of its era.

While no later single matched that success, Baha Men continued releasing music and touring, remaining ambassadors of Bahamian junkanoo sound on the international stage. Songs like «Move It Like This» and «Best Years of Our Lives» kept them present on pop and dance charts through the early 2000s, and «Who Let the Dogs Out» remains a fixture of pop culture decades later.
