Baby Keem

Baby Keem, born Hykeem Jamaal Carter Jr., is a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer from Las Vegas, Nevada. Before stepping into the spotlight himself, he built a reputation as a producer, working on tracks for artists such as ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Beyoncé, which gave him early credibility within the West Coast hip-hop scene. He is affiliated with pgLang, the multimedia company co-founded by his cousin Kendrick Lamar.

Keem started recording under the name Hykeem Carter, releasing his debut project Oct in 2016, before rebranding as Baby Keem around 2018. His breakthrough came with mixtapes like Die for My Bitch and the platinum-certified single «ORANGE SODA», which showcased his playful, genre-blending approach mixing rap, pop and electronic textures with unconventional song structures and abrupt beat switches.

His 2021 debut studio album, The Melodic Blue, cemented his place as one of the most inventive young voices in hip-hop, featuring the Kendrick Lamar collaboration «family ties», which won a Grammy. His sound is defined by moody, bass-heavy production, sudden tempo shifts and an experimental attitude that sets him apart from more traditional trap-influenced peers.
