Asher Roth

Asher Roth is an American rapper from Morrisville, Pennsylvania, who built his early fanbase during his college years at West Chester University, using MySpace and Facebook to spread his music well before mainstream platforms caught on to that strategy. His 2006 project «Believe The Hype» helped land him a deal with Universal Music Group, and the buzz continued with the 2008 mixtape «The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 1», hosted by Don Cannon and DJ Drama.

He broke into the mainstream in 2009 with his debut album «Asleep in the Bread Aisle» and its breakout single «I Love College», a song that became a party anthem and defined the carefree, collegiate persona he was known for early on. That laid-back, conversational flow and self-deprecating humor set him apart from more aggressive contemporaries in the late-2000s rap landscape.
