Army of the Pharaohs

Army of the Pharaohs is a hip-hop supergroup formed in Philadelphia and led by Jedi Mind Tricks frontman Vinnie Paz. Assembled from a rotating roster of underground East Coast MCs, the group grew out of Philadelphia's hardcore rap scene in the early 2000s and became known for dense, cypher-style posse cuts featuring rapid rotations of verses from its many members.

Musically, the group is defined by dark, aggressive production and lyrics steeped in violent imagery, martial metaphors and battle-rap intensity, reflecting the grim, boom-bap-adjacent sound associated with Vinnie Paz's broader body of work. Tracks like «Battle Cry», «Dump the Clip» and «Seven» showcase the group's trademark format of stacking numerous MCs over a single beat, turning songs into extended lyrical tag-team exercises.

Over the years the lineup has included artists such as Celph Titled, Apathy, Esoteric, Planetary, Reef the Lost Cauze and Doap Nixon, among many others, with the roster shifting across releases. Army of the Pharaohs occupies a distinctive place in underground hip-hop as one of the genre's most prolific and unapologetically hardcore collectives.
