AP Dhillon

AP Dhillon, born Amritpal Singh Dhillon in Gurdaspur, Punjab, India, is a Punjabi-Canadian singer, rapper and producer who rose from a self-taught bedroom producer to one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Punjabi music. After relocating to Canada, he settled in Vancouver, where he co-founded the independent label Run-Up Records alongside collaborators including Gurinder Gill and Gminxr, becoming a hub for a new generation of Punjabi urban artists.

His global breakthrough came with «Brown Munde», a track that became a cultural phenomenon with hundreds of millions of views and helped define a modern Punjabi hip-hop sound built on trap-influenced beats, melodic hooks and bilingual lyricism blending Punjabi and English. Dhillon's sound draws on R&B, pop and hip-hop textures layered over South Asian musical sensibilities, evident in hits like «Insane», «Excuses» and «With You», which broadened his appeal well beyond the Punjabi diaspora into mainstream pop and R&B audiences.

Beyond his own catalogue, Dhillon has been a key figure in pushing Punjabi music toward international charts and larger touring circuits, frequently collaborating with artists from the Run-Up Records collective. His work on songs such as «Dil Nu», «By My Side» and «STFU» further cemented his reputation for smooth, radio-friendly production paired with candid, often introspective songwriting.
