Alkaline

Alkaline, born Earlan Bartley on December 19, 1993, is an independent dancehall and reggae artist from Kingston, Jamaica. He began pursuing music seriously as a teenager while attending Ardenne High School, visiting local recording studios after school to hone his craft, and made his debut in 2011.

He gained wider recognition in Jamaica around 2013 with singles «Thinks Mi Love» and «123», before his career took off significantly in 2014 with the explicit and controversial hit «Move Mountains». These early singles were compiled on his 2014 mixtape, Alkaline Mixtape, and he went on to release his debut studio album, New Level Unlocked, on March 25, 2016.

Known for a deliberately mysterious public persona and an aggressive, hip-hop-influenced vocal style, Alkaline fuses classic dancehall and reggae sensibilities with contemporary urban production. Songs such as «Spoil You», «After All», «City» and «Pretty Girl Team» reflect his range across hard-edged street anthems and more melodic, romantic material, cementing his status as one of the prominent figures in modern Jamaican dancehall.
