Ahmad is an American hip hop artist from Los Angeles, California, best remembered for his 1994 single «Back in the Day», a wistful, sample-driven track built around a flute loop that became one of the defining nostalgia anthems of nineties rap. The song's success established Ahmad as part of the mid-90s West Coast wave that balanced gritty street narratives with melodic, reflective songwriting, and it has since been sampled and referenced widely across hip-hop and R&B.

Beyond his solo work, Ahmad was a founding member of the hip-hop fusion group 4th Avenue Jones, which blended rap with rock and alternative influences, showing a broader range than his breakout single suggested.
