Afghan Dan

Afghan Dan, born Daniel Martin, is a British grime MC from Blackpool, England. He rose to prominence in late 2016 through a series of diss tracks aimed at rival up-and-coming rappers from his hometown, released via the YouTube channel BGMedia. The raw, confrontational style and explicit lyrical content of these tracks quickly caught the attention of a wider audience beyond the usual grime scene.

His notoriety was cemented when Noisey, the music offshoot of Vice Media, produced two documentaries chronicling the Blackpool grime scene, released a year apart. Afghan Dan appeared in both alongside fellow local MCs Little T and Soph Aspin, and the exposure helped introduce the previously overlooked Blackpool scene to a national and international audience. Off the back of this attention, his tracks began racking up millions of views on YouTube and found traction on streaming platforms like Spotify and iTunes.

Beyond his own catalogue, which includes tracks such as «Tic Tac Business», «Freestyle Business» and «Woke Up Fresh», Afghan Dan has appeared on established UK platforms including BBC Radio 1Xtra, JDZmedia, OneWayTv and Don't Flop Entertainment, further establishing him within the wider UK grime and battle-rap circuit.
