Abidaz

Abidaz, born Abiel Jonathan Ghebrehiwet in Eritrea and raised in Solna, Sweden, is one of the more distinctive voices in Swedish rap. He began appearing on tracks in the early 2000s as a guest and collaborator before stepping fully into the spotlight, and his sound spread widely toward the end of 2013. His full breakthrough came with the debut album «In and Out», which cemented him as a leading figure in the Swedish hip-hop scene of the mid-2010s.

His style blends street-level storytelling with catchy hooks and a flow that moves comfortably between Swedish and English, drawing on both American rap influences and Scandinavian club sensibilities. Tracks like «Råknas», «Kvalitet & Kvantitet» and «Gangster» showcase his ability to pair hard-edged lyricism with radio-friendly production, while «Diego Costa» and «Hell Ye» lean into more playful, anthem-style energy.

Abidaz has recorded under other names as well, including Abel, and formed the duo Chapee N Chess together with Chess. His rise was recognized by the Swedish music industry: he won P3 Guld for Hip-hop/soul and picked up honors at the Kingsizegalan, including Best Soloist and a video award for «Råknas», alongside a nomination at the Grammis.
