A$AP Mob

A$AP Mob is a hip-hop collective that formed in Harlem, New York, in the mid-2000s around A$AP Yams, A$AP Bari and A$AP Illz, later becoming a launching pad for A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg. The name is often read as a backronym — Always Strive and Prosper — reflecting the crew's DIY, street-fashion-inflected approach to rap.

The collective's sound blends cloud-rap atmospherics, Southern-influenced trap production and Harlem street style, distinguishing it from more traditional New York rap. Their breakthrough mixtape Lord$ Never Worry (2012) established the group as a cohesive movement rather than a backing crew for a single star, and songs like «Yamborghini High» and «RAF» showcased their ensemble chemistry.

The sudden death of A$AP Yams in 2015 was a defining and painful moment for the crew, and it pushed the surviving members to regroup for the Cozy Tapes series, starting with Cozy Tapes, Vol. 1: Friends in 2016. Since then A$AP Mob has functioned more loosely, with members like Rocky and Ferg pursuing solo careers while the collective identity has faded, as Ferg himself acknowledged in later interviews.
