18 Karat is a German rapper from Dortmund who emerged in the mid-2010s as part of the gangsta-rap scene surrounding Farid Bang and his label Banger Musik. He built his early reputation with hard-hitting street narratives and a gritty, confrontational delivery typical of the Ruhr-area rap scene, gaining attention with his 2016 album «FSK18 Brutal», which charted despite his newcomer status. Shortly after, he was introduced as a new signee to Banger Musik.

His subsequent releases, including «Pusha» in 2017 and «Geld Gold Gras» in 2018, cemented his commercial presence, with «Pusha» reaching the German top five. He continued to build a catalog centered on themes of crime, loyalty, and street life, culminating in his fourth solo album «Je m'appelle Kriminell» in 2019. Songs like «Komm ins Café» and «Verliebt in einen Gangster» showcase his mix of melodic hooks with dark subject matter, a combination that broadened his appeal beyond hardcore gangsta-rap purists.
