13 Block

13 Block is a French rap group from Sevran, in the Seine-Saint-Denis department northeast of Paris, formed around members OldPee, Stavo, Zefor and Zed from the Beaudottes neighborhood. Emerging from the local 93Gang crew in the early 2010s, the group built its identity on raw, first-person storytelling about street life, drawing on the realities of dealing and hustling in their neighborhood rather than on stylized bravado. Their sound blends the aggressive, dark production of Chicago drill with the melodic bounce of Atlanta trap, a fusion that helped define a harder, more menacing strand of French rap in the mid-to-late 2010s.

13 Block are often cited among the pioneers who brought a distinctly French take on drill and trap to a wide audience, with songs like «Fuck le 17», «Zidane» and «Petit cœur» showcasing their interlocking flows and blunt, unpolished lyricism. While sometimes compared to Migos for their tight group chemistry and trading of verses, the members have pushed back on that label, insisting their sound and story are rooted specifically in the Beaudottes and in French rap’s own lineage of gritty, socially charged storytelling.

Their influences reach back to figures like Alkpote, Mac Tyer, Sefyu and the Mafia K’1 Fry collective, connecting 13 Block to an older generation of hardcore French rap even as their trap- and drill-inflected sound points toward a newer generation of artists.
