Insane Clown Posse é uma dupla de hip-hop de Detroit, Michigan, formada por Joseph Bruce (Violent J) e Joseph Utsler (Shaggy 2 Dope). Surgindo da cena underground de rap e wrestling de Detroit no início dos anos 1990, o grupo construiu uma mitologia conhecida como Dark Carnival, desenvolvida através de uma série de álbuns conceituais chamados Joker's Cards, começando com «Carnival of Carnage» e seguindo com «The Great Milenko», «The Amazing Jeckel Brothers» e «The Wraith». A música mistura letras de horrorcore, humor sombrio e imagética carnavalesca com uma produção de rap pesada.
Além da música, o ICP é conhecido por fundar a gravadora Psychopathic Records e cultivar uma das bases de fãs mais devotadas da música, os Juggalos, reconhecíveis pela pintura facial de palhaço em preto e branco e pela predileção pelo refrigerante Faygo, que o grupo costuma borrifar sobre o público nos shows e no festival anual Gathering of the Juggalos. O polêmico contrato com a Hollywood Records, ligada à Disney, nos anos 1990 — rapidamente rescindido após «The Great Milenko» por causa do conteúdo — tornou-se parte da mitologia outsider do grupo.
Apesar da rejeição da crítica durante boa parte da carreira, o Insane Clown Posse manteve uma comunidade de fãs ferozmente leal e um império de negócios independente que abrange música, wrestling e cinema através da Psychopathic Records. O grupo continuou lançando novos álbuns de Joker's Cards até os anos 2020, dando continuidade à narrativa do Dark Carnival.
