Insane Clown Posse es un dúo de hip-hop de Detroit, Michigan, formado por Joseph Bruce (Violent J) y Joseph Utsler (Shaggy 2 Dope). Surgidos de la escena underground de rap y lucha libre de Detroit a principios de los años noventa, el grupo construyó una mitología conocida como el Dark Carnival, desarrollada a través de una serie de álbumes conceptuales llamados Joker's Cards, comenzando con «Carnival of Carnage» y continuando con «The Great Milenko», «The Amazing Jeckel Brothers» y «The Wraith». Su música combina letras de horrorcore, humor oscuro e imaginería carnavalesca con una producción de rap contundente.
Más allá de la música, ICP es conocido por fundar Psychopathic Records y cultivar una de las bases de fans más devotas de la música, los Juggalos, reconocibles por su maquillaje de payaso en blanco y negro y su afición por el refresco Faygo, que el grupo rocía famosamente sobre el público en sus conciertos y en su festival anual Gathering of the Juggalos. Su controvertido fichaje por el sello Hollywood Records, propiedad de Disney, en los años noventa, que rápidamente rescindió el contrato tras «The Great Milenko» por su contenido, pasó a formar parte de su mitología de outsiders.
A pesar del rechazo crítico durante gran parte de su carrera, Insane Clown Posse ha mantenido una comunidad de fans ferozmente leal y un imperio empresarial independiente que abarca música, lucha libre y cine a través de Psychopathic Records. Han seguido publicando nuevos álbumes de Joker's Cards hasta bien entrados los años 2020, ampliando la narrativa del Dark Carnival.
