Sobre o artista
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians is an American rock band formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1985, fronted by singer Edie Brickell. The group blends jangly folk-rock and jam-band instrumentation with introspective, poetic lyrics, and they became a defining act of the late-1980s alternative and college-rock scene. Their breakthrough debut album, «Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars», produced their best-known songs, including «What I Am» and «Circle», both marked by Brickell's distinctive breathy vocal delivery and loose, groove-driven arrangements.
After their initial run, the band disbanded in 1991 as Brickell pursued other projects, including a marriage and musical partnership with Paul Simon. New Bohemians reunited in 2006 and have since released several additional studio albums, extending their catalog well beyond the songs that made them famous in the 1980s. Their sound has remained rooted in the same blend of folk, rock, and jam influences that defined their early work, even as the lineup and production evolved over the decades.
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians occupy a notable place in American alternative rock as one of the acts that helped popularize a more organic, groove-oriented songwriting style ahead of the broader alt-rock explosion of the 1990s, and Brickell's ongoing collaborations, including with Steve Martin on bluegrass projects, have kept her connected to a wide range of American roots music.
