Sobre o artista
Darlene Love, born in 1941 in Los Angeles, is an American soul and R&B singer whose career is closely tied to producer Phil Spector and his «Wall of Sound» productions of the early 1960s. As a member of the Blossoms, she sang uncredited lead and backing vocals on several hits released under other group names, and provided backing vocals on landmark records such as The Crystals' «He's a Rebel» and The Ronettes' «Be My Baby».
Her best-known recording, «Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)», produced by Spector in 1963, has become one of the most enduring American Christmas songs, covered by countless artists and played annually on U.S. radio; Love herself famously performed it live on television for decades. Beyond her solo hits like «(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry» and «Wait 'til My Bobby Gets Home», she built a long career as a backing and session vocalist for major pop and rock acts.
Love later became known for fighting to receive proper credit for her uncredited Spector-era work, and she also pursued acting, appearing in film and television. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recognition that affirmed her central, long-underappreciated role in shaping the sound of early-1960s American pop and soul.
