Bakar

Bakar, born Abubakar Shariff-Farr, is a British singer, rapper, and model from Camden Town, London. Emerging from the capital's diverse indie and alternative scene, he cites artists like Skepta, Lily Allen, and Bloc Party's Kele Okereke among his influences, and his music blends indie rock guitars with hip-hop cadences, hazy production, and confessional lyricism, placing him alongside a generation of UK artists who move fluidly between genres.

After posting early tracks on SoundCloud, Bakar released his official debut single «Big Dreams» in 2017, which became the lead single from his first full-length project, Badkid (2018). The mixtape drew attention for its loose, guitar-driven take on contemporary British youth culture. His profile grew further in 2019 with the widely popular single «Hell N Back», followed shortly after by the EP Will You Be My Yellow?, which featured a guest appearance from Dominic Fike.

Bakar continued to build his catalogue with a run of singles in late 2020, including «1st Time», a collaboration with Lancey Foux titled «Play», and «Having a Good Time, Sometimes». Across his releases, he has maintained a distinctive lo-fi, genre-blurring sound that has made him a recognizable voice in modern British alternative music.
