Andy Black

Andy Black is the solo project of Andy Biersack, the American singer best known as the frontman of the rock band Black Veil Brides. He launched the Andy Black identity as an outlet for material that didn't fit his main band's sound, first discussing the project publicly in 2014.

His debut solo album, «The Shadow Side», arrived in May 2016, preceded by the lead single «We Don't Have to Dance». The record leaned into a moodier, more melodic and synth-inflected rock sound than Black Veil Brides, drawing on 1980s-influenced pop-rock and cinematic production while retaining Biersack's theatrical, emotionally direct songwriting.

Songs such as «Ribcage», «Homecoming King», and «When We Were Young» highlight the project's blend of anthemic hooks and darker, introspective themes, positioning Andy Black as a bridge between hard rock and mainstream pop sensibilities. While Black Veil Brides has remained his primary and ongoing band, the Andy Black project let Biersack explore a distinct creative identity, expanding his audience beyond the rock scene that first made him known.
