Sobre el artista
James Newton Howard es un compositor, director de orquesta y pianista estadounidense, una de las figuras más prolíficas y versátiles de la música cinematográfica moderna. Nacido en Los Ángeles, comenzó a tocar el piano de niño y estudió en la Music Academy of the West y en la USC Thornton School of Music, antes de pasar del trabajo de sesión y pop a la composición para cine a mediados de los años ochenta.
A lo largo de más de tres décadas ha compuesto la música de más de un centenar de películas de prácticamente todos los géneros, desde dramas íntimos hasta grandes franquicias. Su catálogo incluye El fugitivo, Señales, El sexto sentido, King Kong, Peter Pan, Maléfica, Blancanieves y la leyenda del cazador, Nightcrawler, y las franquicias de Animales fantásticos y Los juegos del hambre. También es conocido por su frecuente colaboración con Hans Zimmer, incluida la banda sonora de El caballero oscuro, y por sus inicios como arreglista y teclista de gira con artistas como Elton John.
Sus partituras se reconocen por su franqueza emocional, su riqueza orquestal y su disposición a combinar la escritura sinfónica tradicional con texturas electrónicas e instrumentación poco convencional. Ha recibido un Grammy, un Emmy y varias nominaciones al Óscar y al Globo de Oro, además de premios a la trayectoria de ASCAP y BMI.
