Sobre el artista
Huey Lewis and the News are an American pop rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in the late 1970s when singer and harmonica player Huey Lewis teamed up with keyboardist Sean Hopper, both alumni of the Bay Area jazz-funk outfit Clover. The group became one of the defining acts of 1980s mainstream rock, known for tight, blue-collar bar-band musicianship wrapped around instantly hummable hooks and Lewis's warm, unpretentious voice.
Their commercial peak came with the multiplatinum albums Sports (1983) and Fore! (1986), which produced a run of hits including «The Heart of Rock & Roll», «I Want a New Drug», «The Power of Love», «Stuck with You» and «Hip to Be Square». «The Power of Love» became a cultural touchstone through its use in Back to the Future, while «Hip to Be Square» later gained notoriety for its unexpected role in the film American Psycho.
Musically the band blended rock, pop and R&B influences with polished production and a strong horn-and-harmonica presence, giving them a sound that was radio-friendly yet rooted in live-band craft. Though their commercial fortunes declined after the 1980s and the lineup shifted over the years, Huey Lewis and the News remain closely associated with the decade's mainstream rock sound and continued to record and tour, including contributing music to later films such as Pineapple Express.
