Grace Davies

Grace Davies is a British singer-songwriter from Blackburn, England, who came to public attention in 2017 as a contestant on The X Factor UK. She stood out from the start for performing her own original songs rather than covers, opening with «Roots» during her audition, and continuing to showcase self-written material throughout the competition, an unusual approach for a televised talent show.

She advanced all the way to the final, where she finished as runner-up to the group Rak-Su, with judge Simon Cowell remarking that either act would have been a worthy winner. Songs performed and later released from her X Factor run, including «Too Young», «Wolves» and «Hesitate», along with studio versions such as «roots» and «Don't Go», established her as a pop songwriter with a confessional, personal streak rather than a purely commercial vocalist.

Following the show, Davies signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco and continued releasing original pop material, building a career on the songwriting credibility she demonstrated on national television rather than on cover performances, a relatively rare trajectory among X Factor alumni.
