Erutan

Erutan is the stage name of Kate Covington, a singer, violinist, and composer from Charleston, South Carolina. She began playing violin as a toddler, quickly excelling in performances and competitions, and as a teenager joined the Celtic and medieval ensemble Donnybrook Legacy, deepening her love of folk and ancient-sounding music. Inspired by video game soundtracks, especially the scores of Final Fantasy and the Chrono series, she started composing original instrumental pieces before adding lyrics and her own vocals.

Erutan built her following primarily on YouTube, where ethereal covers of game and film music sit alongside original songs like «The Willow Maid» and «Rose of May». Her sound blends Celtic instrumentation, layered harmonies, and fantasy-tinged storytelling, appealing to fans of both folk music and RPG culture. Her debut album, Raindancer, was self-released in 2010 through her own website, reflecting her independent, DIY approach to music-making.

Her take on «Come Little Children» and reinterpretations of video game themes such as «Hymn of the Fayth» and Cage the Elephant's «Still Alive» became especially well known among online audiences, helping cement her reputation as a distinctive voice in the internet folk and fantasy-music scene.
