Sobre el artista
Cobra Starship was an American dance-pop and electropop band formed in New York City in 2005 by Gabe Saporta, formerly of the post-hardcore act Midtown. After releasing an internet-viral parody track, Saporta assembled a full band and signed to Decaydance Records, the Fueled by Ramen imprint run by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. The lineup soon stabilized around Saporta, guitarist Ryland Blackinton, bassist Alex Suarez, keyboardist Victoria Asher, and drummer Nate Novarro.
The band's sound blended pop-punk energy with synth-driven dance-pop and hip-hop-influenced vocal delivery, placing them alongside the Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance scene of the late 2000s alongside acts like Panic! at the Disco and Gym Class Heroes. Their breakthrough single «Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)» tied into the cult film of the same name, while later hits such as «Good Girls Go Bad» (featuring Leighton Meester) and «You Make Me Feel...» (featuring Sabi) pushed them toward mainstream club-pop territory.
Cobra Starship released four studio albums between 2006 and 2011, with «Hot Mess» becoming one of their most commercially successful records. Saporta's flamboyant stage presence and the band's embrace of celebrity culture and self-aware pop irony made them a distinctive presence in mid-2000s pop-rock. The band went on indefinite hiatus in the early 2010s.
