Arch Enemy

Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Halmstad in 1996 by guitarist Michael Amott, formerly of Carcass and Carnage, alongside vocalist Johan Liiva. The band quickly became one of the genre's defining acts, known for pairing aggressive, technically intricate guitar work with strong melodic hooks, a formula that helped popularize melodic death metal well beyond its Scandinavian roots.

The band's profile rose dramatically after German vocalist Angela Gossow joined in 2000, becoming one of the most influential female growlers in extreme metal and fronting the band through a run of acclaimed albums. When Gossow stepped back from touring in 2014, Canadian vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, previously of The Agonist, took over the microphone, continuing the band's momentum with albums like «War Eternal» and «Will to Power».

Throughout numerous lineup changes, Michael Amott has remained the band's constant creative anchor alongside longtime drummer Daniel Erlandsson and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo. Arch Enemy's catalog, spanning albums from «Black Earth» through their more recent releases, is widely regarded as a benchmark within melodic death metal, and the band remains one of the most consistently touring and commercially successful acts in the genre.
