Sobre o artista
Sir Mix-a-Lot, born Anthony Ray in Seattle, Washington, is a rapper, producer, and songwriter who became one of the first major hip-hop artists to emerge from the Pacific Northwest. He built his early reputation as an independent artist and producer before signing with a major label, releasing his debut album Swass in 1988, which went on to reach platinum status and established his reputation for blending funk-heavy, bass-driven production with witty, often humorous lyricism.
His 1992 album Mack Daddy produced his signature hit, «Baby Got Back», an enormous commercial success that won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance and remains one of the most recognizable rap singles of its era. He followed it with Chief Boot Knocka in 1994, featuring «Put Em' On The Glass» and the Grammy-nominated «Just Da Pimpin' In Me», continuing his knack for combining party-ready production with sharp commercial hooks.
After Return of the Bumpasaurus in 1996 and a lengthy hiatus, he returned with Daddy's Home in 2003. Sir Mix-a-Lot is remembered as a pioneering West Coast rap figure whose bass-forward sound and pop-savvy singles helped bring hip-hop from Seattle into the mainstream, influencing the broader crossover appeal of party rap in the late '80s and early '90s.
