Sobre o artista
Foxy Brown, born Inga DeCarlo Fung Marchand on September 6, 1978, is an American rapper who emerged in the mid-1990s as one of hip-hop’s most prominent female voices, earning the nickname «Hip-Hop Princess». She came up alongside the Trackmasters production team and quickly became known for a assertive, sexually confident lyrical style paired with a distinctive raspy delivery, aligning her with the wave of glamorous, hardcore female rappers of the era alongside peers like Lil’ Kim.
Her debut album Ill Na Na (1996) established her as a commercial force, followed by Chyna Doll (1999), which became one of the first albums by a female rapper to debut at number one on the Billboard 200, and Broken Silence (2001). She was also a member of The Firm, a short-lived supergroup with Nas, AZ, and Nature that released one album. Guest appearances and singles like «Get Me Home» and «I’ll Be» cemented her presence throughout the late 1990s.
Legal troubles and health issues significantly slowed her career after the mid-2000s, but she remained a respected figure in hip-hop history, resurfacing periodically with guest verses, including a notable feature on Nicki Minaj’s «Coco Chanel» in 2018, and continuing to work toward new music in the years since.
