J Hus

J Hus, born Momodou Lamin Jallow on May 27, 1996, is a British rapper, singer and songwriter from Stratford, East London, of Gambian heritage. He emerged from the UK's grime and street rap scenes in the early 2010s, gaining attention through freestyles on platforms like SBTV and BBC Radio 1Xtra's Fire in the Booth before signing to Black Butter Records.

His sound is defined by a fluid blend of Afrobeats, dancehall, R&B, grime and hip hop, delivered in a distinctive half-sung, half-rapped cadence peppered with slang drawn from his Gambian and East London roots. This genre-crossing approach, showcased on singles like «Did You See» and «Friendly» and his acclaimed debut album Common Sense, helped redefine what UK rap could sound like and made him one of the most influential figures in the wave of British Afroswing and street music that followed.
