Sobre el artista
Blue Scholars is a Seattle-based hip-hop duo formed by MC Geologic (Geo), of Filipino descent, and producer/DJ Sabzi, of Iranian descent. Emerging in the early 2000s from Seattle's underground hip-hop scene, the group built a reputation for politically conscious, socially engaged lyricism paired with soulful, sample-driven production.
Geo's rhymes address themes of race, class, immigration, and Pacific Northwest identity, often referencing local Seattle history and figures, as heard on tracks like «Slick Watts» and «Joe Metro». Sabzi's beats draw on soul, funk, and electronic textures, giving the group a warm, musical backdrop distinct from more commercial rap production of the era. Their self-titled debut and follow-up releases such as «Bayani» established them as leading voices in independent Pacific Northwest hip-hop, admired for blending hometown pride with broader themes of social justice and cultural identity.
Beyond the duo, both members have pursued other projects — Sabzi as part of Common Market and other productions, and Geo under the name Prometheus Brown — while Blue Scholars have periodically reunited for new music and tours, remaining a touchstone act for socially conscious hip-hop from the Seattle region.
