Jane Austen

Jane Austen was an English novelist whose work reshaped how fiction portrayed ordinary life. Writing from the English countryside in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, she focused her novels on the domestic concerns of the middle and gentry classes, examining marriage, money, and social standing with a sharp, ironic eye.
