e. e. cummings

E. E. Cummings (1894–1962), stylized by many as e. e. cummings, was an American poet, painter, essayist, and novelist renowned for his radical experiments with poetic form. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he studied at Harvard before serving as an ambulance driver in World War I, an experience that shaped his early prose work The Enormous Room.

Cummings is best remembered for his idiosyncratic use of syntax, capitalization, and punctuation, often dismantling conventional grammar to create visually and rhythmically striking poems on the page. Despite this avant-garde surface, much of his work is rooted in traditional forms like the sonnet, subverted with his own playful twists.
