Chuck Palahniuk

Chuck Palahniuk is an American novelist born on February 21, 1962, best known as the author of «Fight Club», the 1996 novel that became a cult phenomenon after David Fincher's 1999 film adaptation starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. He grew up partly on his grandparents' cattle ranch after his parents divorced, and worked as a diesel mechanic and journalist before establishing himself as a writer, drawing on that blue-collar background for much of his fiction.

Palahniuk's work is defined by transgressive fiction: dark humor, visceral body horror, minimalist and aphoristic prose, and a fascination with masculinity, consumerism, and social alienation. Beyond «Fight Club», he is known for novels such as «Survivor», «Choke», «Lullaby» and «Haunted», the latter containing the notorious short story «Guts», famous for causing audience members to faint at his live readings.
